"Hume in Iceland "
The conference themes are:
Belief and Sentiment
This conference is organized as a moveable Humean feast, which it is appropriate to sketch out here:
August 6th -- The conference will commence with opening sessions held at the University of Iceland in Reykjavík at 9 a.m. and then, after lunch, continue by bus to Hólar, in the north of Iceland (with some sightseeing extras), arriving there at about 19:00.
An important note: Starting at 9 a.m. on the 6th will generally require arrival in Reykjavik on August 5th or earlier (see travel information). At any rate, it will be imperative for participants not to miss the bus. Those who do miss the bus will be on their own.
August 7th -- Full-day program at Hólar University College, including meals and overnight accommodation.
August 8th -- Breakfast at Hólar, then transfer to Akureyri on a ninety-minute bus ride. Morning sessions begin at 10:00 at the University of Akureyri. Overnight accommodation in Akureyri.
August 9th -- Sightseeing in the morning. Scholarly sessions after lunch. Overnight accommodation in Akureyri, and the conference banquet.
August 10th -- Bus to Reykajavik after breakfast. Lunch at Bifröst University, a small institution in the middle of nowhere, but directly on our route. This bus trip will take five hours, not counting lunch. Departure from Iceland should thus be planned for August 11th or later (see travel information).
As this conference includes not only the scholarly program, but transportation, some lodging, some meals, and sightseeing as well, it will be necessary to register -- and pay for the accommodation/transportation package -- unusually EARLY. Further details will be provided in the registration section.
You should also look at some practical information that you will find helpful in preparing for your stay in Iceland.
