An on-campus hotel, Hotel Alma, has reserved a block of Euro-Style rooms for Conference participants at $125 a night -- available until May 17th, but only if you ask for the International Hume Society group rate. It is not possible to reserve a room without belonging to some group or other which has made an arrangement ahead-of-time with the hotel.
Each room contains a queen-sized bed, TV, minifridge, microwave, and coffeemaker, and reservations include free wi-fi, local and long distance phone calls (within Canada and the US excluding Hawaii and Alaska), access to the University's Fitness Facilities, and a continental breakfast.
The hotel has also reserved two-bedroom apartments at $120 per night. The apartments each have a lockable door and a double bed along with the extras and amenities minus the continental breakfast and access to the Fitness Facilities (although passes may be purchased for $5 a day). Up to two individuals may stay for $120, and up to two more individuals may be added at $10 each.
The Rozsa Centre, the site of the Conference, is next door to the hotel -- a hop, skip, and jump from the front door of the hotel.
You may also reserve traditional dormitory rooms at $51.30 a night. Each includes two single beds, desks, dressers, and a minifridge. Washroom and shower facilities are shared by gender with other guests on each floor. Basic daily housekeeping is provided, with linens changed every three days. Common lounges on floors 2 thorugh 7 each have a TV.
Reservations for both the Alma Hotel and the dormitory rooms may be made by phone: 403.220.2588 or 877.498.3202 or via email: firstname.lastname@example.org. The fax is 403.284.4184. Please refer to the International Hume Society when reserving your room.
All rates are subject to GST (5%) and the Alberta Tourism Levy (4%). You should note that only a limited number of rooms have been reserved.
If you are unable to obtain accommodations at the University, you should try what is called Motel Village, a large number of hotels within walking distance of the University on 16th Avenue near, and on, Banff Trail NW. Among the motels there are the Best Western Village Park Inn, a Super 8, Econo Lodge Motel Village, Canadas Best Value Inn, Centro Hotel, Travelodge Calgary University, Savory Lodge, Banff Trail Motel, and EconoLodge Inn and Suites University.
You can find information about hotels in Calgary at the official Calgary website, and, of course, TripAdvisor gives detailed comments. The offical website also provides information about other forms of accommodation -- guest ranches, hostels, B&Bs, and so on.
We will also be posting information about breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the banquet. There are dining facilities on campus, but we will also provide a list of restaurants in nearby neighborhoods.
