Copyright and Licensing

Copyright to Hume Studies is held by the Hume Society. Authors are free to reuse their own articles in other publications they write or edit and are encouraged to post their preprint (pre-peer review) or accepted (post-peer review but not typeset) articles to personal and personalized professional websites such as PhilPeople and Academia on condition that they reference the formally peer-reviewed, copy-edited, and typeset version that appears in Hume Studies as the “version of record” of their work and stipulate that all citations and references should be drawn from it. No further permission is required.

Articles published in Hume Studies are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license (CC BY-SA 4.0). This license allows readers to share and adapt content provided that they abide by the following terms: 

• Give credit to the original author(s)/creator(s) and attribution parties (i.e., Hume Studies);
• Provide a link to the Hume Studies source;
• Include the copyright notice and/or indicate the corresponding Creative Commons license (and provide a link to the license); 
• Share adapted content under the same license as the original.
